I think most all of us are in the same situation with our mail. Not only is it annoying getting so much unwanted mail but we are wasting a lot of paper and hurting to environment.

So, what can you do about it? I will tell you what I have done in the past year to try and fight back.

First I joined Lifelock. They are a fraud and identity protection company. I spend $10/mo and get all the benefits listed on their website and in addition they also have the ability to cut down on the junk mail you receive. You will get less credit card applications and other unwanted mail.

Then I signed up at Opt Out Prescreen. This site is the Official Consumer Credit Industry website to accept and process requests from consumers to Opt-In or Opt-Out of firm offers of credit or insurance. I selected to Opt-Out from receiving Firm Offers for Five Years – (electronically through this website).

Finally I signed up at Catalog Choice. Catalog Choice is a free service that allows you to decide what gets in your mailbox. Use it to reduce your mailbox clutter, while helping save natural resources. Every time I get a catalog in the mail that I don’t want anymore I go to this site and tell it that I don’t want to receive anymore from this company. Catalog Choice then contacts the company for you and within 90 days you should notice a decrease in your mailbox clutter.

I am always looking for new ways to fight any type of spam whether it be in my physical mailbox or my inbox. Try out these steps and you should see a significant decrease in the unwanted mail.
